Oulton Park will host a special celebration of Sir Jack Brabham as part of the Historic Gold Cup weekend on 29-31 August.
The dedicated commemoration comes during a special year for the Brabham name. The 2026 season marks not only the 60th anniversary of Brabham’s unique World Championship victory in a car bearing his own name, but also 100 years since the Australian Grand Prix icon was born.
Brabham’s links to the Gold Cup date right back to the event’s very earliest years, with him winning the main prize for the first time in 1957 with Cooper. He later won three further editions of the race, all in cars built by his own outfit, with the most recent of these coming in non-championship F1 races during 1966 and 1967.
With four Gold Cup victories to his name, Brabham sits alongside John Surtees as a four-time winner of the Cheshire circuit’s signature event, behind only Sir Stirling Moss. Brabham was also a special guest to the Gold Cup during his later years, visiting the meeting as it transitioned into a historic meeting during the early 2000s.
The three-time World Champion’s son, David Brabham, will attend the event as part of the celebrations and take part in a special Q&A session on the bank holiday Monday.
David Brabham said: “Oulton Park is a very appropriate venue to mark an important year for Brabham. It is 60 years since my father’s third Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship and the Constructors’ title, and this also falls in what would have been Jack’s centenary year.
“The circuit holds particular significance as Jack raced and won the Oulton Park Gold Cup 60 years ago in his championship-winning Repco Brabham BT19. He remains the only driver in Formula 1 history to win a World Championship in a car of his own construction, an extraordinary achievement made possible through his partnership with Ron Tauranac, whose engineering contribution was fundamental to Brabham’s success.
“Having the HGPCA racing as part of the Gold Cup weekend adds to the historical importance, and I’m looking forward to meeting fans at the Brabham marquee for the Bank Holiday Monday Q&A. I would also like to thank MSV, as owners of Oulton Park, for their support in helping make this celebration of Brabham history possible.”
