Oulton Park’s signature Historic Gold Cup returns for another glorious celebration of motor racing’s past with three days of nostalgic entertainment on 25-27 July, and this year’s edition will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Britain’s first F1 team, BRM. The showpiece race days on Saturday and Sunday will feature a curated programme overseen by the Historic Sports Car Club, featuring a range of its own championships alongside a selection of specially invited guest categories. This includes the Historic Grand Prix Car Association (HGPCA) which harks back to the venue’s past as the host of non-championship F1 races, the HRDC Gerry Marshall Trophy for pre-84 GP.1 and GP,1 ½ touring cars, Historic F3, powerful F2 and F5000 single seaters, vintage sports cars and many other superb series.
The F1 theme will extend to a special 75th anniversary celebration of the British Racing Motors (BRM) Formula 1 team. BRM machinery from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s will appear for displays and demos, including the 'Old Faithful' P578 #1 raced by Graham Hill to the World Championship in 1962, plus earlier V16 machinery and later V12s. Special guests attending will include former drivers Richard Attwood, Howden Ganley, Jackie Oliver and Mike Wilds.
