Reigning champion Ian Loggie and teammate Jules Gounon claim pole position for the season opening Intelligent British GT Championship race at Oulton Park.
The #1 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG pairing had a fastest time of 1m31.713s, set by Gounon as the Pro qualifying session was coming to an end. The pair had close competition from the #91 Century Motorsport duo of Dan Harper and Darren Leung in the BMW M4 GT3. Harper set the provisional pace in the Pro session and they ended up 0.278s off of pole and on the front row.
The #15 RAM Racing entry of Raffaele Marciello and John Ferguson will line their Mercedes-AMG up in third place with the Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 of Marvin Kirchhöfer and Alex West alongside them. Half-a-second off pole were the FP2 pacesetters of Ross Gunn and Andrew Howard driving for Beechdean AMR in the #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
Following in sixth was Jonny Adam and James Cottingham, who topped the Am qualifying session, in the #4 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG, the third Merc in the top six. Sandy Mitchell and Shaun Balfe were the highest placed Lamborghini, putting their #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in seventh.
Rounding out the top ten were the #27 Optimum Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 of Rob Bell and Mark Radcliffe, the #8 Team Abba Racing Mercedes-AMG of Richard and Sam Neary with the #72 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Will Tregurtha and Mark Sansom in 10th.
The GT3 session was brought to a premature end because of a crash for the #77 Enduro Motorsport of Marcus Clutton and Morgan Tillbrook. Clutton went straight on, into the barriers, at Shell Oils Corner, where they came together with the #22 GT4 BMW M4 in FP1 earlier today. They qualified 11th.
It was a McLaren Artura 1-2-3 in GT4 with the #90 Optimum Motorsport of Charles Clarke and Jack Brown on pole, over a second clear of Tom Wrigley and Ian Gough in the #29 Race Lab, who themselves were 0.887s ahead of third placed Tom Rawlings and Kavi Jundu for Paddock Motorsport.
The first race is on Monday 10 April at 10:55.
