BTCC Race 2: Sutton masterfully wins Race 2 with dominant performance

07 June 2026

Ash Sutton produced a superb drive to victory in the second race of the day at Oulton Park this afternoon after starting from seventh on the grid. The NAPA Racing UK driver used his soft tyre advantage to cross the line nearly 20 seconds ahead of title rival Tom Ingram.

Off the line, Dan Cammish got a good launch in his Ford Focus Titanium while the Team VERTU Hyundai i30N of Ingram surged into second past Josh Cook. It was Sutton’s turn then to pass the Speedworks Corolla Racing machine, as the four-time champion quickly moved into third to set about chasing the leading duo.

On lap three, Sutton used his soft tyre advantage over the hard tyre-running Ingram to overtake Ingram into Cascades before quickly dispatching his teammate Cammish to take a lead that he would not relinquish. The Ford Focus Titanium immediately surged ahead and demonstrated breathtaking pace to eventually cross the line with a gap of nearly 20 seconds to Ingram.

The Team VERTU driver eventually moved past Cammish with a late-race overtake into Lodge to finish second, with the Ford rounding out the podium. Daryl De Leon came out on top in a titanic battle for fourth that involved six cars, beating the Audi A3 Saloon of Mikey Doble, who finished fifth.

The Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport pair of Gordon Shedden and Árón Taylor-Smith were sixth and seventh respectively. Taylor-Smith held on to fourth for most of the race with some valiant defending but eventually conceded the position. Ricky Collard crossed the line in eighth in his Hyundai i30N, followed by Dexter Patterson in ninth and the WSR BMW of Charles Rainford, who completed the top 10.
