BTCC Free Practice: Moffat lays down early Oulton Park marker

06 June 2026

Aiden Moffat set the fastest time in the sole Free Practice session of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship weekend at Oulton Park this morning (Saturday). The LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing driver lapped the Island circuit in 1m24.213s, just over a tenth quicker than the Team VERTU Hyundai i30N of Tom Chilton.

With track conditions initially damp, the drivers first headed out on wet tyres before making the quick switch to dry tyres as the track rapidly dried up. But it was the Audi A3 Saloon of Moffat that adapted best to the greasy conditions. Chilton ended the session just 0.133s behind the leading man, with another Hyundai i30N of Chris Smiley setting the third fastest time, a further tenth back.

The sister LKQ Euro Car Parts Audi of Mikey Doble was fourth, while championship leader Ash Sutton finished in fifth for NAPA Racing UK, with the top five covered by less than four tenths. James Dorlin was sixth in his Restart Racing machine, with Dan Cammish’s Ford Focus Titanium in seventh.

Eighth was the third Audi A3 Saloon of Dexter Patterson, with the all-new German machine clearly showing good pace in the early stages of the weekend, while reigning champion Tom Ingram was ninth. Rounding out the top-10 was Daryl De Leon in his WSR BMW 330i M Sport, seven tenths off the leading Audi.
