Lamborghini and Mercedes-AMG machinery will start Monday’s British GT Championship races at Oulton Park from the front after Rob Collard and Maximilian Götz set the fastest times in Saturday’s split-GT3 qualifying sessions.

Collard will lead the pack away in the first of two one-hour races on the International circuit after setting the fastest time in the opening session for AM drivers. The Barwell Motorsport driver lapped the Cheshire track in 1m33.673s to edge out Giacomo Petrobelli by just 14 thousandths.

The top-four were separated by less than a single tenth of a second in a hugely close first qualifying session, with Kevin Tse’s 2 Seas Motorsport entry and the sister Mercedes-AMG of Charles Dawson taking third and fourth. Simon Orange completed the top-five in a McLaren.

Tse’s co-driver Götz was the pace setter in the second session for PRO campaigners, upping the pace to lap Oulton Park in 1m31.881s. Sandy Mitchell in another of the Barwell Lamborghinis was his closest rival in another close session, just 0.062 behind.

Sven Muller, who topped the earlier pre-qualifying period, had to settle for third place with Marvin Kirchhöfer fourth. Jonny Adam completed a strong dual session for the Blackthorn Aston Martin, following up Petrobelli’s second place with fifth.

Josh Miller took pole in the first GT4 session at the wheel of a Mahiki Racing Lotus whilst Charlie Robertson set the pace in the second segment, driving a Century Motorsport BMW.
