Oulton Park to celebrate Alan Minshaw at the Historic Gold Cup

The life and career of iconic Demon Tweeks founder and racer Alan Minshaw will be celebrated with a special display at the Oulton Park Gold Cup on 26-28 July. This will take the form of a static display of cars from his career.

Minshaw died earlier this year, aged 88, concluding a life which included several decades’ worth of on-track exploits. This included a stint in the British Saloon Car Championship, later British Touring Car Championship, most notably at the wheel of BMW and VW machinery emblazoned with his Demon Tweeks company logo.

The well known character from the North West scene continued to race regularly after his time in the tin top spotlight came to an end, and was a frequent visitor to historic events including the Gold Cup. In addition to racing, Minshaw was a successful businessman, and the enduring Demon Tweeks brand continues to supply motorsport products worldwide.

Minshaw was survived by seven children, including racing sons Jon, Jason and Guy, all of whom share his passion for automotive competition. And Jason in particular has taken an active role in working with the Oulton Park event team to organise this commemoration.

Jason Minshaw said: "We are filled with excitement as we prepare to attend the Oulton Park Gold Cup. This legendary circuit holds a profound significance in my father's life, and it is truly a remarkable opportunity to honour him by showcasing his extraordinary race cars. It promises to be a magnificent celebration, paying tribute to his enduring love for this special place."
