Bobby Thompson moved to the top of the times in the second Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice session of the weekend at Oulton Park this afternoon (Saturday).

Thompson's lap of 1m25.554s was enough to pip reigning champion Tom Ingram by just 0.017s on the Cheshire circuit's picturesque Island layout. The latter did top the morning's earlier practice session though, so both will head into qualifying later this afternoon with good momentum.

Aron Taylor-Smith was third quickest in the second practice period, leading a strong session for the Power Maxed prepared Vauxhalls. Andrew Watson followed up his top-10 from the morning in the second of the team's cars with fifth. Dan Cammish's NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus ST split Taylor-Smith and Watson.

Series leader Ash Sutton was sixth in the final practice session ahead of qualifying as he aims to extend his dominant run in the championship, whilst Jack Butel produced an impressive effort to set the seventh fastest time.

Josh Cook, George Gamble and Jake Hill rounded out the top-10 ahead of the qualifying session which is scheduled for 3.50pm this afternoon.
